About this role
Focus Recruitment is recruiting Ecologist for work across Washington and the wider North East area. Our clients are planning, engineering and environmental consultancies, developers and housebuilders who need assessments delivered for planning applications, so demand for ecologist runs year-round.
What you will be doing
- Carry out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and habitat surveys
- Write Ecological Impact Assessments and mitigation strategies
- Complete Biodiversity Net Gain metric calculations and BNG plans
- Undertake protected species surveys during the survey season
- Advise developers on ecological constraints at an early stage
- Liaise with local authority ecologists and Natural England
What you need
- Consultancy or local authority experience
- Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessment, Protected species survey experience, Natural England survey licence (bats, GCN or dormice) desirable, CIEEM membership
- Good written English and report writing
- GIS skills (QGIS or ArcGIS) an advantage
- Right to work in the UK
